More Than Words — Nicola Bal

Hey…

I’m so glad you have found me!

I have a dream…

You, the reader, play a huge part in my dream.

As a writer, it’s a safe bet to say that my dream is to hold my very own book(s) in my hands, smell the fresh scent of print on paper, open the cover and hear the spine crack…

In the meantime, I’m here writing about what I know…life.

My human experience has been difficultly beautiful!

As a child who experienced sexual assault, it is quite fair to say that certain aspects of living have not been easy, both my mental and physical health have been horrendously impacted. Part two of my dream, is to build a safe space in our community for conversations around SA and trauma, an honest, compassionate and hopeful space…where fear and shame do not exist.

I described my human experience as difficultly beautiful, as that’s exactly what I mean. My husband, my children, my dogs, family, friends, books, music, art, colour, trees, the ocean, sunrise, sunset, the moon…are all incredibly beautiful. I am grateful in so many ways that I could still witness beauty, even in the dark, as collectively these beautiful things got me through great difficulties.

I am so thankful.

Perimenopause symptoms lead me on a journey, finding answers to my lifelong question ‘why do I feel different from everyone’…

Enter Autism and ADHD.

Parenting while re-parenting my inner child has been the most challenging, while living with an un-diagnosed neurodevelopmental condition and post traumatic stress disorder — the combination was disaster, disaster that I thought at the time we could never come back from. We did. I did.

Meditation. Crystals. Moonbathing. Poetry. Resting. Reading. Nature. Breathing. Singing. Yoga. Soulwork. Shadowwork. Art. Chakra Healing. Spiritual Coaching. Oracle cards. Manifesting. Releasing and Letting go.

I offer an opportunity to connect, and grow with me, support me in a lifelong childhood ambition…I only ever wanted to write, imposter syndrome does of course ask if my work is worthy of payment, with courage, I tentatively say yes…any work that derives from the soul I believe is worthy.

Of course, more than anything, just sharing and commenting and showing support. If one line I write reaches one person with whom it resonates, then that is my truest writing ambition realised.
